During lockdown I have come to love the walk along the beach from Whiteabbey to Hazelbank.
I often wonder what Hazelbank House, now long gone, would have been like it it pomp. Once the residence of James Mackie and his family – James Mackie’s was one of Belfast great industrialists – the Albert Foundry on the Springfield Road was one of Belfast’s largest engineering works, primarily supplying spinning frames and looms for the city’s linen mills.
